Ring of Fire and Hope at Birch Bay – New Year’s Eve, 7:00 PM
Hundreds of road flares are placed just above the high tide line, and the spectacle of the lights ringing the bay is reportedly breathtaking. Anyone may participate.

—Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce 25th annual “Polar Bear Plunge”
- Registration: Begins at 10:00 AM, New Year’s Day.
- Promptly at noon locals (and anyone else who wishes to participate) will take the “plunge that refreshes.”
- As well, there will be audience-judged contests at CJ’s Beach House, in the categories of Oldest and Youngest Participants, Best Group, and Best Individual Costume .
